Warli Art - Tree of Life and Tarpa

"Tree of Life" and "Tarpa Dance" is shown at the center of the painting. "Tarpa Dance' is one of the important aspects of most Warli paintings. The Tarpa, a trumpet-like instrument, is played in turns by different village men. Men and women entwine their hands and move in a circle around the Tarpa player. This ‘Tarpa Dance’ denotes the Circle of Life. The celebrations reflect the happiness that emanates from our daily chores and how they give us the freedom to celebrate life after a hard day’s work.
